This certainly is a question you should ask yourself before buying a pup. A Weimaraner isn't the easiest of dogs.
If you don't realise this upfront, things can turn into a disaster. The dog can start disbehaving towards kids, other people, other dogs. He can start redeveloping your house, barking like mad when you're out. And then we haven't even talked about things outside, when the dog is off lead. He can start chasing game whenever he wants and not wanting to come back anymore.
In the most serious cases, he can even have a go at his own owner.
You certainly have to consider these things and ask yourself the question whether you're able to avoid all this.
The Weimaraner is a very active dog. He needs enough exercise (off course depending on his age how far you can you). If you take him around the block three times a day, he won't be happy at all.
Besides plenty of exercise, the dogs also needs to be stimulated mentally. Preferably something to do with hunting. After all, a Weimaraner is a hunting dog. Things like agility or basic obedience will do as well.
If you're capable of creating a stable basis for the dog and if he's obedient (preferably with a little help from someone who knows what he's doing), then things look good for you and your future Weim.
Then it's time to start visiting breeders/owners, so you can see the dogs in their own habitat. And then it't time to make the final decision:
It the Weimaraner the dog for me?????
