Mowgli

It all started back in 1999. I decided to have another dog. After endless nights discussing the issue with Meike, my very best friend, I decided the Weimaraner was the dog for me, but it had to be a longhair!

When I contacted the breed club, they told me it would probably be very difficult to get a longhair, especially in the Netherlands. Thank goodness this person knew there was a litter coming up in Belgium, so I contacted this breeder. I was the second in line for a pup from his bitch, Aphrodite van de Kampina. Unfortunately I had a phone call from this breeder that all pups were stillborn and/or died shortly after birth. The breeder knew of another pregnant bitch though, a half-sister of Aphrodite. I called the owners of this bitch named Sue van de Kampina straight away and made an appointment to see Sue. The owners of Sue, Ton and Angela Grande were so friendly, that they've been very close friends ever since.
They put me on their waiting list but again I was unlucky. Only 2 pups were born and I was third on the list.
I was so dissapointed and thought it would never work out, when I got this phone call.....
Both Afro and Sue were covered by the two dogs of one and the same person. Since she lived quite close to me at at that time, we'd already been there to look at her dogs. She felt sorry for me and knew I was capable of handling a Weimaraner and helped me out big time. She had this friend in Germany who'd recently had a litter with his bitch Ayla vom Weipen. All were sold but one.... This dog was initially sold, but the buyers just never showed up. Only 4 days after I'd heard that Sue had only 2 pups, Meike and I where on our way to Germany to pick up little Cira vom Weipen. After we'd promised the breeder to do hunting trials with her and after we'd signed the papers, we went home again with a little Weimaraner on our lap, called Mowgli!!!!!
And this is how it all started!
